Welcome to the High Wycombe Central Aid Society |
|
The High Wycombe Central Aid Society is a Registered Charity (Registered Charity No. 201445) established to help needy people in the High Wycombe area. Established by Frances Dove in 1906, it is the oldest independent charity in High Wycombe, having been in existence for over 100 years.
We provide information and advice on a wide range of topics, small grants, plus clothing and food on a limited basis, to those in need of help in the High Wycombe area. This help is provided regardless of age, religion, or ethnic background.
We additionally provide the local office for SSAFA Forces Help.
The Society also runs a Furniture Project which collects donated furniture and furnishings, mainly for sale to those on low incomes. The Project also provides items of furniture for free to those in the greatest need as part of the Society's small grants scheme.
If you would like to become a Friend of the Society, and attend Society functions and receive two newsletters per year, an annual subscription of £5 per year minimum is requested - contact us for more details or download the application form here. |

Clyde's Piece: Society Update - May 2010 |

The annual get together of our Volunteers and Friends
Monday 17th May saw over 40 people attend a pleasant event at the Reggie Goves Centre in Paul's Row.
Erica put on a splendid buffet in convivial surroundings as Old and New friends met together for the "thank you all for the last year efforts" hospitality.
The Chair of the Trustees, Mrs Rosemary Vere, gave a short speech where she singled out the Pop In for special mention after its recent successes. She wanted all to know that at one stage the project was threatened with closure but, had been saved based on the hard work and enthusiasm of the Volunteers and Erica.
The whole event was wrapped up with a short concert provided by the girls of Wycombe Abbey School who sent both String and Wind quartets to entertain us all.
Clyde thanked the girls and the School for their continuing interest in Central Aid and pointed out that the connection between the two goes back to the very beginning in 1906.
